Sony’s Vario-Tessar T FE 16-35mm f/4 ZA OSS Camera Lens is a small and weather-resistant solution that will meet virtually all of the wide-angle demands of full-frame E-mount shooters. The flexible wide zoom has a constant f/4 maximum aperture, making it a great lens for street, landscape, and cityscape photography, as well as other subjects needing a wide field of view with the inherent adaptability of a zoom. Based on the ZEISS Tessar optical principle, this lens employs a design with 12 elements in 10 groups, which contributes to a lower overall lens size as well as decreased flare, distortion, and chromatic aberrations. Constant f/4 maximum aperture provides constant performance across the zoom range while also providing better control over focus location for narrow depth-of-field methods. When using selective focus techniques, the rounded seven-blade diaphragm adds to a beautiful bokeh effect. Each lens surface has ZEISS T anti-reflective coatings to help minimize reflections and provide better image clarity, contrast, and color fidelity. The lens design has three extra-low dispersion glass components to assist decrease chromatic aberrations and color fringing for greater clarity and color neutrality. The lens design has five aspherical elements, including one large-diameter Advanced Aspherical (AA) element, to decrease astigmatism, field curvature, coma, and other monochromatic aberrations. When shooting handheld with shorter shutter rates, optical SteadyShot image stabilization helps to decrease the impression of camera wobble for better pictures. This stabilization technique can also be used with sensor-shift image stabilization on some cameras for more effective control of camera blur.
